Aligi Sassu Museum - Atessa (CH)

The Museum is housed in the beautiful rooms of Palazzo Ferri, in Corso Vittorio Emanuele. On display an extraordinary permanent collection of works by Aligi Sassu, consisting of ninety works on paper, mostly unpublished - drawings, watercolors, pastels and tempera - and one hundred and twenty graphic works chosen - etchings, etchings, lithographs and serigraphs - given by Alfredo and Teresita Paglione to the city of Atessa.  The exhibition traces the most important stages of the life and artistic production of Aligi Sassu starting from the futuristic works of 1927-28, to then focus on the works of the '30s, including the famous 'Red Men' and 'Cyclists', the 'Coffee', the 'Battles', the drawings of the prison of Fossano made between 1937 and 1938, the 'Crucifixions' and 'Councils' of the '40s, up to the 'Spanish Bullfights' of the '60s.
