Lecce nei Marsi

Lecce dei Marsi, 745 meters above sea level and 76.5 km from L'Aquila, is the birthplace of Andrea Delitio, whose artistic skills are expressed in the Duomo of Atri. According to some scholars, the origin of the village dates back to the tenth century BC, when the place was inhabited by the so-called Safino-Italic Civilization. The ruins found in the excavations of the Tavana torrent seem to confirm the presence of an inhabited nucleus that dates back to Roman times and defined "Vicus Anninus", and from the discovery in 1877 of some tombs that had engraved in many parts on the stone the inscription "Anninus ".
