This one or two day itinerary suggests a journey through the comb hills of the Province of Chieti, a gentle ups and downs, with views that often change from the Adriatic to the Maiella. lt starts from the castle of Crecchio, a quadrangular building, where it is possible to visit the Archaeological Museum of Byzantine and Early Medieval Abruzzo. The next stop is Casoli (30 km}; on the top of the historic center it is possible to visit the Ducal Castle with its pentagonal tower. Taking the state road 84 we reach Lake Sant'Angelo, an artificial basin surrounded by vegetation with areas dedicated to picnics and where it is possible to stop and then leave for Roccascalegna (15km) The medieval castle stands majestically from a rocky ledge and is very scenic; it isone ofthe most photographed castles in Abruzzo and a destination for many visitors. At about 20 kmon the provincial road N10 another lake awaits us, that of Bomba, Its banks can be reached from the provincial road, follow the signs for "lake" and reach the lakeside where you can stop. The itinerary continues towards the Marchesale Castle of Palmoli about 40 km away; of medieval origin it preserves the dodecagonal tower ending with Cuelph battlements; inside there is also a museum of traditions. Continuing towards the coast there is another noteworthy fortification: the castle of Monteodorisio which houses the Museum for the economy between antiquity and the Renaissance. Not far away you can reach the city of Vasto, the historic center and the belvedere are truly fascinating, as is the Caldoresco castle, which can be visited from the outside.
