At an altitude of almost 600 metres, at the foot of the Colle Rotondo, lies Bugnara, surrounded by hills and woods, which dominates the entire Peligna Valley from its position. Bugnara is an ancient village, which developed especially in the Middle Ages and has seen the succession of noble families who have left in the town traces of great architectural value: the symbol of this past is the Castello Ducale, which with its ruins seems to control still today the whole territory. Finally, to see walking through the pretty old town, are the ruins of megalithic walls and fortifications, the Church of S. Maria della Neve, the Church of S. Maria degli Angeli, the Palace of the Popes, the Palace of Baron Alesi dei Paparelli and the Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.
