Overview

Descrizione lunga

The scenery you will encounter when you arrive at Liscia, a small village in the province of Chieti, is particularly enchanting and will give your eyes that typical characteristic that merges mountain beauty with maritime beauty, in a poetry that will fill you with serenity and peace.

The village is characterized by a historic centre with a typical medieval structure, rich in artistic beauty, with important historic buildings and monuments of high cultural value. Outstanding along the street is the 14th-century Church of San Martino, whose facade was made by artists from Molise in the 18th century, plastered and embellished with a stone portal. Its interior, with its typical single-nave structure, is finely decorated and carefully preserved, with side chapels adding to its value.

Typical wonders of the evocative Abruzzo are undoubtedly the hermitages, places of worship that testify to the strong devotion rooted in the region. In Liscia you will find the Hermitage of St. Michele Arcangelo, a mystical site full of quiet, undoubtedly worth a visit. Here, lost in the mountains at the foot of the village, stands a naturally formed Cave-Sanctuary, where people worship the ancient cult of St. Michele Arcangelo, the village's patron saint. Inhabited for centuries by hermits and saints, this 17th-century cave is rich in water that flows from rock formations, which is believed to be miraculous. You cannot miss a visit to this place that is so spiritual and beneficial for body and soul, especially during the celebrations of the saint on May 8 and September 29, when you can also watch the traditional parade of allegorical floats.

As you know, regional cuisine is extremely rich and the village of Liscia is no different. On your visit you can enjoy the best local recipes, such as porchetta, ventricina, or the traditional pizz e foj, which is a crumbled corn pizza with mixed seasonal vegetables, accompanied by sardines and fried dried peppers.
