Overview
Torrebruna is a mountain village located on the slopes of the Apennines, south-east of the Carunchina and Civitella hills. One of those places where life still follows a slow flow, enjoying every moment with calm and serenity, where you can regenerate and let your mind go.
The village is today the fusion of two ancient, fortified villages, Torrebruna and Guardiabruna. The origins of Torrebruna are older than the second, and date back to the 13th century.
The village layout is typically medieval and develops according to concentric rings, on which the stone houses, walls and gates of the city walls follow one another, evidence of the distant past.
On the highest point you will find the Church of the Transfiguration, built in the 17th century, which houses a gilded and painted wooden organ from the 18th century, built by Antonio Ciavarelli.
The façade has a single bay, with a flat profile flanked by pilasters and floral decorations with a festooned cornice. A treasure you cannot miss.
The fortified village of Guardiabruna dates back to the 16th century. Here, we suggest you visit the Piccirilli fortified palace at the top of the village, which is of particular historical and artistic importance. In Baroque style, it is probably the result of the evolution of a medieval settlement and a fortified monastery.
The palace is characterized by the typical elements of the time, with walls and buttresses built on the rock, following the natural shape of the cliff on which it stands. There are also a tower and a rifleman, evidence of the glorious times.
A place that has something irresistible about it, a perfect mix of nature, inner peace and historical evidence: how can one resist this?
