Ci troviamo ai margini di Pescasseroli, la “capitale” dell’Alta Valle del Sangro.
The Bomba Lake is situated in the Sangro Valley, 30 km far from the sea and is 7 km long, 1,5 km large and 36 meters deep. The pond has been created blocking the course of the Sangro River through a dirt floor dam; this was the first example of dam created with this technique in Europe in 1962. Different species of fishes live there and a rich vegetation surrounds the banks of the lake. In its water live many fish species such as chubs, crucian carps, carps, european perches, eels and trouts. On the lake's e banks there are plenty of tourist resorts, sport and entertainment clubs, campings and restaurant. This is the ideal destination for windsurf and sport fishing lovers. The lake is navigable and it is possible to practice canoe, water ski, windsurf thanks to the the many sport clubs. You can also rent a paddle boat and make a relaxed tour of the sea. The surrounding villages are very pictoresque. Bomba, is located on the southern bank and is an ancient center perched on Monte Pallano slope. On the mountains's top there is an important archeological site with big megalithic walls easy to reach and to visit. Colledimezzo, is a fascinating village perched on Colle Castellano in a panoramic position and dominates the lake. Pietraferrazzana is a pictoresque group of houses located under a dizzying cliff. Finally the village of Villa Santa Maria is located on the feet of the enormous rock that dominates it. On the northern bank there is Pennadomo, a village with an enchanting landscape, grabbed on the basis of a dark rock with the valley and the lake view as background.
